BNY Mellon Customer Service these days (or the lack of...)

Regarding the latest Banking screw up -BNY Mellon lost tape issue.
My banking institute was one affected - and on their website they give the advise to contact this special toll free number to verify whether or not your account is in danger.

So, just to be safe, I called.
Well - what transpired set me into a wild rage.
My call was answered by a seemingly pleasant woman, who couldn't really speak a lick of english, broken english in all fairness.

But I proceeded, live and let live, this is the world we live in - I've dealt with worse...right?

wrong.

For something as important as this I expect more from a customer service representative and banking institution who fucked up - it wasn't me who fucked up.
I advised why I was calling, then the rep proceeded to spew off a bunch of incoherent ramblings. From what I could gather, she was reading straight from the press release - everything I already knew. So I politely said thank you, yes that is why I'm calling, could you please verify that my account hasn't been affected - hmmmm - not sure what she said, so I said Yes? I heard a deep inhale of exasperation, and a pause, and then 'wast name pease' = 'last name please' .

So we're making progress...not.

I spelled my last name because I knew for sure it would end being spelt Huff -completely wrong.
So I spelled it out the first time - and again, another heavy exasparated inhale, 'sorry - mum pease repea' = 'I'm sorry maam could you please repeat'

Second try = close to boiling point.

This time she attempted to repeat and what came out was 'aoufta' - WTF!
I said NO - H as in HOTEL, she proceeded to interupt me - 'a is wha?'
H as in HOTEL...
'mum, wha?'
Ok - that was it for me - if you can't understand basic American words, not slang, actual words! you don't belong on a customer service support line giving information about someones life.

Sorry - you lose and so does this bank -
and so do I...

I proceeded to inhale a heavy harsh inhale - and said ' jesus - FORGET IT - jesus learn to speak English - not engrish!'

Very frustrating indeed - I know she's a person just like me - but what on earth is she thinking she can do a job like this? Did anyone tell her she needed to speak proper english?
What on earth is BNY thinking - do they really have to be so blatant in their uncaring attitude?

WTF!
